VAR Home Page The Virginia region website was created to provide information about events and activities pertaining to the Virginia region, such as the spring VAR, conservation, and activities of the VAR. The VAR website also has a Bulletin Board where area cavers, grottos, organizations can post messages on the site. The Bulletin Board is a good way to get a message out about activities that may involve several grottos, such as cleanups, surveying trips or anything else of interest to the Virginia region.
North American Bat Conservation Partnership What is the NABCP? The North American Bat Conservation Partnership is a program organized by Bat Conservation International to promote more effective protection of bats and their habitats through collaboration of bat researchers, private organizations and foundations, corporations, and government agencies in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
Cavers Digest The Cavers Digest is an email list dedicated to the dissemination of information about caving. This includes topics on caving equipment, caving techniques, and many diverse topic. It DOES NOT include cavelocations, so if you are looking for those, you can go somewhere else.There are no requirements formembership, so go ahead and join if you are interested in caving on any level.
National Speleological Society (NSS) The National Speleological Society (NSS) is a non-profit organization affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The NSS was founded for the purpose of advancing the study, conservation, exploration, and knowledge of caves. More than 10,000 members in 200 grottos conduct regular meetings to bring cavers together within their general area and coordinate activities which may include mapping, cleaning, and gating sensitive caves.
West Virginia Cave Conservancy Cave Conservancy provides protection to cave and karst resources throughout the Virginia region principally through education and resources management. They conduct activities to educate the general public about nature and the importance of caves and karst. The Conservancy promotes the study of caves and karst by facilitating scientific studies, especially studies aimed at identifying and defining the significance of cave and karst resources.
